About Madison

My service stands out because I'm a student as well! As a rising freshman at the STEM Early College at NC A&T, I get lots of experience in various classes, however I'm young enough to relate to my fellow students as well.

I enjoy seeing my students suceed more than anything. One of my pupils just gained 40 points on their ELA EOG, and I emailed my old teacher to brag on them. I love to target my lessons towards the student's interest as well.

I got into tutoring in the first grade, when my elementary school asked me to help other students. I loved to teach things in different ways to different people, and consider how each person's mind works. After that, I got involved in tutoring in middle school and now I use it as a small income.

I have tutored elementary school students through my former middle school, Brown Summit Middle School Center for Advanced Academics. I also tutor in ELA, and my high school credits (as of June 2019) are listed below.

About the lesson

I first start out by working with the student on thier weak points, and then work to create engaging activites to improve anything I'd noticed in the first session. My goal is to teach them all the college and career ready standards for thier subject, while making sure they understand (in comparison to just memorizing information).

I've worked with students ranging from first to ninth grade.

I would tell a student looking to hire a "teacher" in my subjects to meet them first, and see if they're right for you. Even if they're well-qualified, you have to get along with and understand the person to get the best possible learning experience from them.

A recent event I'm fond of (related to tutoring) is the success of one of my students. A very nice young man, he's amazing at math. However, he wasn't too good at ELA. After working with him for a bit, his EOG test score went up 40 points. I'm so proud of him!!!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should think through anything that applies to their beliefs before talking to their teacher. A big thing is to consider the way to would like a conversation to go. You should go to your teacher about anything you deem appropriate, though. Just make sure you're not telling them what they want to hear or anything, because then they can't help you.

I don't have a standard pricing system. I'd like to say that I'm a pretty easygoing person, so most of the time I'll just talk to you about hours, and work out a price that seems reasonable to both me and the family.
