About Bethany

As a proud Coloradoan, invested in the future of our residents and the future voices of our country, I take education seriously. To use those voices effectively, one needs to have a firm grasp on our language. With a BA in English Literature and years tutoring college-aged adults and elementary-aged children, I'm confident that my individualized approach will aid these future leaders into becoming the best and brightest students.

We're all teachers and we all start organically. I simply veer towards being able to identify when students need assistance and what kind of assistance they need. Through elementary school to college, I was a tutor. My analogies have evolved from "Hey Arnold" references, but I enjoy finding a way to connect with my students in ways that we both can relate to i.e. I won't talk down to my students, ever.

I have a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Colorado Boulder. During my tenure at CU, I was a student journalist turned editor and mentor as well as a peer tutor. I'm confident in my ability to guide and improve confidence in writers, readers, speakers, and more.

About the lesson

I love to get a feel for the curriculum that the student is learning and highlight any potential hiccups that I might see of the bat. Then we go into an in-depth discussion about what they feel their weaknesses and strengths are. I like to get a feel for how they work, so I'll watch, without interruption how they would typically do an assignment. Then we'll discuss how they felt about certain parts of the lesson (frustrated, confused, bored)? Then we can create a game plan from there with goals and rewards (if applicable). There are always stumbles along the way, but I believe that with proper care and attention, anyone can thrive.

Anywhere from pre-school to college students.

Finding a tutor isn't a one-size-fits-all approach. If you need to try a few to see what techniques click or who you're the most comfortable with, do that. You can't succeed if you set yourself for suboptimal conditions.

I recently went to a free evening at the zoo with a friend. I haven't been to any zoo for a long time, and it was the perfect way to spend a summer evening in Colorado.
