About Abril

My service stands out because I believe patience and kindness to be the best form of tutoring. I am a Creative Writing Major at Emerson College so I have extensive practice in both writing and english comprehension. I have been tutoring for close to three years with different students as well as a hired tutor on Tutor.com a service provided by the Princeton Review. I have gotten a 35 on the English ACT and a 5 on AP English. I have also worked and been published at Elysium Literary Magazine which has won awards from Columbia University.

I enjoy being able to help students and see their face light up and their frustrations and stresses go away once they finally understand a subject. I comprehend how difficult it can be to struggle in a subject area and I love helping students learn and maybe even come to enjoy what they are learning.

I got started teaching through after-school tutoring at my previous high scchool along with helping my peers excel at all english related AP, IB, and ACT exams. I also have always been the one to help my younger brother with homework and tests so I have experience working with younger kids.

My education is that I am a current Junior at Emerson College majoring in creative writing. This means that I have a lot of experience in the writing and english subjects. I also have been privately tutoring students one-on-one for close to three years and have been a hired tutor for Tutor.com (a service provided by the Princeton Review) for the same amount of time. Due to this experience, I am highly experienced in helping others with their writing but also in all english related subjects.

About the lesson

My typical process for working with a student is first to make sure that we both are comfortable working together and to create a safe and open learning enviroment. I like to go over the material the student needs help with and make sure that I will and can be the best tutor possible to help. I conduct the tutoring sessions in person or over video call. I am dedicated to taking as much time as a student needs in order to allow them to understand a lesson. I like to work in a way that guides the students to be able to reach the answers by themselves to assure that they thoroughly can understand the subject matter and will hopefully not have any more issues with it in the future.
