About Sam
I am a PhD Student at UT Austin in a STEM field with years of experience in mentoring students and writing scientific papers. I am knowledgable in all biological topics, along with specialized knowledge in neuroscience. Additionally, I have years of experience in reading, writing, and editing personal statements for college applications, academic peer-reviewed papers, and federal grants. I look forward to helping students with reading comprehension, writing essays, editing personal statements, or learn scientific topics!
I have a B.S. in Biochemsitry and Cell Biology from the University of California at San Diego. I am currenly working on my Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the University of Texas at Austin. I have experience teaching as part of my graduate program, as well as mentoring undergraduate students over the past 4 years.

I like to begin the first lesson by learning about the student and what the student hopes to get out of tutoring. It is important to first understand what strengths the student has before outlining the areas that need work, so talking through expectations and responsibilities is very important. For younger students, parents are a critical part of this process. Afterwards, we will make a plan (along with a timeline) to reach the student's goals.
