About Victoria
I have a variety of experience with service, and truly enjoy helping people achieve their goals. I worked for nearly 10 years in human resources as a specialist in senior in-homecare and gained experience working with the developmentally disabled children as well (autism, down syndrome, and epilepsy). I then spent several years on personal work, building up life experience at self help retreats, and programs alike. In 2016 I became a student at Cabrillo College, working on a degree in Studio Art! That is where I discovered my absolute passion for the arts, especially painting. I learned about drawing objects as well as people, acrylic painting, spent time on design, including 3D sculture; but truly fell in love with drawing and painting and the many ways it is used to express one's self, and bring joy to an audience!
My favortie thing about art is the satifaction of taking time, and putting so much of my efforts into something and having a completed project to gaze at, use, give as a gift, or just enjoy! I also, really enjoy helping others to appreciate a similar experience.
First of all I LOVE art in all of its forms! Also, People have told me since I was a young child that I should be a teacher someday. I am a patient and empathetic person, so I am good at adapting my style based on the students needs. I also have had some incredible teachers along the way that have taught me well!
I have been a creative person and an artist for my entire life! I can remember having an obession with crayons and pens from age 2 through to today. I played guitar in a band in high school, and worked on larger murals on my friends skateboard ramps during that time period. I never stopped drawing and collecting art, but in more recent years I have decided to continue my education by returning to Cabrillo College in Aptos, CA where I am a studio art major succeeding at a wide variety of art classes such as drawing 1 and 2, life drawing (the human figure), design, painting, and 3 dimentional sculpture art. During each course I have recieved excellent guidence from my instructors and progressed at an incredible rate in developing my unique style and skills, which has made art even more enjoyable for me! I am enthusiastic, skilled, and patient with my studentsn, and feel confident that I can share my knowledge with any artist of any age, gender, or creed based on that individuals drive to learn new techniques.

When working with a new student I always take a little bit of time to get to know them and what their individual style might be. Then I start with the most basic lesson appropiriate to that persons skills set, so that no one is left behind. Making sure that the person is familiar with all of the tools they will be using, so that they have as much control over the outcome as possible is important too!
While I have been a student much longer than Ive been a teacher, I have had a variety of students learn from me in many different walks of life. I have worked in Senior Care for almost 9 years, been a baby sitter trying to keep the kids engaged (with art), spent time teaching the developmentally disabed. and also done 1 on 1 lessons with friends and family over the years.
Feel free to interview teachers in order to find a good fit for your style. Be open minded and repect the teachers expertise, but don't be affraid to ask to see some of their work. It might help you decide if it's an influence you'd like to see in your own style.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should try to take a realistic assessment of their current skills and where they woud like to improve. They should not be affraid to interview the teacher as they are being assessed as well. Ask questions about how long they've been teaching, and to see some of their personal pieces of art (as studying with an artist may influence ones style; you may like thier style or you may want something different). Be confident! Make mistakes as you go, its how we learn and grow.

Details
I charge what seems fair for the situation. For example more for gas $ if I travel to the client, or maybe a slightly hirer price depending on if I am diong a lot of outside research for a particular client. But mostly it's a range between $25-55 per session to help cover cost of my materials. If a clients sets up something often and regular that price could come down a bit. Still trying to figure out what's fair being that we are all on Zoom these days. Open to suggestions.
