About Paul

For as long as I can remember, I have had a curiosity and a consuming passion to explore the realm of the the visual arts. I am fascinated with the act of creation, and nothing is more rewarding than the reaction one receives when a work of art is seen for the first time by another set of eyes; It is that connection that drives my own creations, as I seek to develop images that provoke thought and inspire the heart.
Several decades ago I was introduced to fractals. Fractals are everywhere; they can be seen in the fronds of a fern; the branching limbs of trees both short and tall; the majestic expanse of a mountain range; and in the erratic contours of every coastline.
But this structure can be interpreted further. When you think about the structure of an atom, and then compare this to the structure of our solar system – the two look very similar! The fractal is the structural organization that comprises our universe in the 3rd dimension. But what is truly amazing about fractals, is that they give us a glimpse of the dimensions beyond.
Once one understands that all things are connected, and that the great pattern of the universe is present in all things, one can start to move his/her consciousness further. Through meditation and through my art, my mission as an artist is to portray this deeper spiritual truth so that others may learn and heal and find peace.
It has taken many years of study and meditation to realize this mission statement. I graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1999. After working in the field of commercial graphic art and design for 7 years, I decided to switch careers and pursue a path in education, as I felt an deeper need to help others to explore their own potential. In 2006 I earned my first graduate degree in Teaching from Manhattanville College. As I began my career as a teacher, I continued my own education, earning a second degree in Illustration Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design. I continued to work as a freelance graphic artist and illustrator for a variety of clients, large and small, developing courses for DeVry Institute, designing marketing and promotional materials for the Burpee Museum of Natural History and a host of logos for local businesses in the greater metropolitan area.
I try to draw inspiration from the ever-changing world around me. Every experience, every moment carries with it a magnificent opportunity to transform that information into a visual statement that can be shared and celebrated with others. Trained in traditional drawing and painting techniques, I currently use both analog and digital art production tools to produce a wide range of art that I find captivating. Finding connections to the great micro/macrocosm of the universal order, I hope to visualize the metaphysical structure that permeates all things, and in doing so, help others to make these connections as well.
