About Ashley
My name is Ashley and I have been tutoring for about a year now on Wyzant. I graduated from Emory University in 2018 as a Gender Studies major, and I am now finishing a pre-medicine post-baccalaureate program at Fordham University before applying to medical school. I provide tutoring in multiple disciplines that include the sciences and humanities. Most of my tutor experience is in chemistry, sociology, biology, and exam prep. I like to break down complex concepts into small palatable chunks of information for my students. I emphasize the importance of practice and constantly looking at the big picture to gain a better understanding of the intricacies of both science and literature.

When working with a new student, I like to first figure out why they're studying their particular course so that I can gear information towards their ultimate goal. I then ask a series of questions about their learning style; whether that is by listening and watching or by doing themselves and having me step in when they get stuck. After each lesson, I provide a summary of what was covered and provide resources for additional practice until the next session.

Ashley has been a huge help in Biology. It's clear that she loves teaching. I'm glad I found her
I really needed help with my Spanish class and Ashley and her mom have been excellent. Ashley's mom is the cutest lady from Colombia, and she sometimes hops on lessons to give the most precious "refranes colombianos"
I liked that Ashley is so cheerful, funny and passionate about what I once thought was boring chemistry. She goes out of her way every lesson to point out all the ways I will use chemistry as a nurse. I suggest Ashley as a tutor to all of my friends
I liked that I originally went to Ashley for help with Chemistry, but along the way she also ended up helping me with Biology, English, and Trigonometry. She is a fountain of knowledge and super friendly. I use her for my classes and I also use her for my son who's 6. My grades have increased dramatically since I started working with her. I wish i found her sooner!
