About Richard
With 40+ years as an actor (Three's Company-Broadway) I have been teaching when not working in the industry for the last 18 years. I've directed television and theater and hold a Masters Degree in Theater from Northwestern University.
I work with beginners and professionals both with my regular classes and private coaching. The minimum age for enrolment is 15yrs. I am also affiliated with both Actors Connection and NY Castings offering sitcom workshops throughout the year. (concealed information)
I enjoying witnessing the progress students make and assisting them in improving their skills in the craft.
After directing Burt Reynolds in his show Evening Shade for CBS, I thought I would extend my training and experience to others.

I will employ Meisner techniques such as repetitions as well as my own exercises to teach the concept of listening and reacting. I assess their level of instinct and ability and adjust my material (which I choose) for them to work on. Short scenes and monologues are given, rehearsed and polished for ultimate on-camera viewing. All genres are explored, comedy, drama, Shakespeare and some improvisation.
*minimum age 16
Ages ranging from teens to mature adults. professional actors, actors fresh out of college, beginners.
I do not accept students under the age of 16.
Word of mouth is usually a good clue but also an examination of the teachers experience both behind and in front of the cameras is also valuable.
I spent the month of August 2017 performing at the Fringe Festival in Edinbrugh, Scotland.

I’ve been studying with various acting instructors and programs in New York City for 12 years. About a year and a half ago I finally connected with Richard Kline, and I’ve not looked back since. He’s been a great match for me, and many others. He is able to work with individual actors according to their characteristics and abilities. From drama, comedy, Shakespeare, monologues, scene work- both Film and tv as well as the theatre. Plus his years of knowledge and experience comes from bonified industry experience!
It's been a true honor and a pleasure to study with Richard. He is incredibly talented, experienced and knowledgeable, while at the same time making the class fun and light.
He is very good at directing the actor thru various exercises and he has helped me improve the way I deliver the material in order to make it more real, interesting and natural.
