About Douglas
There was a young woman/man who, every morning, gets up at 5am. She/he makes a peanut and jelly sandwich and a thermos of tea and puts it in a backpack. She/he packs up paints, easel and canvas, straps it to her/his back and walks 5 miles to the beach. She/he sets up the easel and canvas, and mixes the paints. She/he takes a bite of the sandwhich and waits for the sunrise. Because she/he just has to capture that certain light. Will the painting sell? Probably not. Does she/he care if it sells? Probably not. She/he does it because she/he just has to paint. Has to.
If you don't have that kind of passion for your art, then you are probably better off playing it safe. Go to college and get a degree in something. Take a business course or whatever. Don't become an artist.
