About Brenda
I work with people of all ages, and abilities. Over 20 years experience working with children and their families, and individuals with special needs. I have a degree in music, and I can teach beginner band and orchestra instruments, as well as guitar and ukulele. I'm a board-certified and licensed music therapist with a background in early childhood education, and I've worked with adults and seniors. Adapting instruments is always a possibility, as well as adapting the music. If you or your child can commit to practicing 25 minutes a day, five days a week, then you/they can succeed!
I played clarinet, bass clarinet, trombone, and sang professionally until I experienced issues with my jaw. I have a bachelors degree in music therapy, which required me to learn the basics on all of the band and orchestra instruments, guitar, drums, voice, music theory, history, etc. I can teach beginner to intermediate on just about any of those instruments, and I can cater the lessons to the individual's needs.

I start where they are. If they have no experience, I assess their ability to follow along to color coded stickers on the piano, etc. If they have some experience, I will ask them to play something for me, and see if they can read music, etc. We can jump right in where they are, and work on remedial issues as they arise.
