About Emily
I enjoy watching kids learn and how excited they get when achieving a new goal. My expertise is with younger children, and while they are learning so much I am always finding that I am learning from them as well:) They appreciate the simple things and celebrate lifes little moments, whihc I belive we all should do, no matter what our age is.
I initially needed to make some extra cash in high school and started tutoring the lower school kids after I was done (our school was K-12). I then started to integrate my ability to teach children and help with homework as an added value to my nanny families. This is something I have purly done on my own and learned along the way.

First and foremost I like to get to know them. THe first session is all about them!! What they like, what they dislike, favroite subject, hobbies, do they play any sports, do they have pets or siblings, etc? I've learned that when you really get to know someone, no matter what their age is, they respond better if you show up front that ypu respect and care for them.
It's also a great teaching method to use if you apply it to things they care about....i.e. if they like gymnastics then you can use a skill to help with math. If your teacher asks you to do 10 cartweels but you can only do 7, how many more cartweels do you need to work on? Correct asnwer: 3
I work with toddlers, preschoolers and low elementry aged children. I have also worked with special needs kids who have Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrom and ADHD
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What are they really struggling with? Can they not grasp the entire situation, or is it only one small problem they're not understandibng? Are they frusterated with themselves for not knowing, and is that in turn making them not want to try or continue learning? Did something happen at school or home that is clouding their "knowledge" on something they may already know?
