About Marie Carmel
Hey,
My name is Marie. I am a second-year Ph.D. student in economics at SFU. Since my master's degree, I have been teaching/tutoring economics concepts at SFU. I find myself really passionate about helping others to learn, especially economics.

As a tutor, I focus on putting students at the center of my teaching approach. I want them to be engaged and actively participate in their learning. I create a friendly and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas.
When planning a lesson, I first assess the student's current understanding and what they want to achieve. If there are any misunderstandings, I use real-life examples to explain things, making it easier for them to grasp the concepts. I also encourage students to solve problems and discuss their ideas during the lesson.
After the class, I provide practice exercises and resources for them to study on their own. What makes me stand out as a tutor is my extensive knowledge and practical experience in economics. With a Ph.D. in economics and years of teaching experience, I have a deep understanding of the subject. I can present complex theories in a way that is easy to understand and relate academic concepts to real-life situations.
