About Harrie
I have 22 years of experience in the biology. I received my master’s degree from Wageningen University and Research Centre in the Netherlands in Biology with a specialisation in cell and molecular biology. I received a PhD degree in Genetics from Michigan State University in the United States. Since than I have been a post-doctoral research scientist. I have extensive experience with teaching students. I have given college lectures and I have been a laboratory instructor at Michigan State University. During my time as a post-doctoral researcher I have supervised many students and technicians in a laboratory setting. Besides this I have published numerous manuscripts in leading scientific journals and presented research at international conferences. I am highly trained in explaining complicated scientific concepts in an understandable way to various audiences.

My teaching style depends on the students and what they request. Different students have different learning styles. I prefer to adapt my lessons to the individual student. This means, I would like to know how you learn best, so I can adapt my lessons to this. I strongly believe that it’s very important for the learning process for students to think about questions about the subject instead of only memorizing. Therefore, I encourage students to ask questions. For structured lessons, I like to provide you with an outline of the content beforehand.
