About Elisa
I am a student at the University of Toronto, where I am planning to major in French with minors in Italian and German. French has been a part of my life since the age of five, and over the years it has become not only a language I speak fluently, but also something I genuinely love teaching and sharing with others. My own education took place in a French-language elementary school within the Conseil Scolaire Viamonde, and I continued studying French throughout high school until Grade 12. I hold the DELF B2 certification, and I have also received several awards for French poetry contests. These experiences have deepened both my appreciation for the language and my understanding of how students can express themselves creatively through it. I also have over one year of experience working as a Center Assistant at Kumon Math and Reading Center. This role allowed me to develop strong tutoring skills, including individualized support, student-focused guidance, and strategies for building confidence in learners of all ages. This experience taught me the importance of patience, clear communication, and creating an encouraging environment where students feel supported in every step of their learning. I truly enjoy working with students across all grade levels, and I strive to bring warmth, clarity, and professionalism to each lesson. I place a strong emphasis on creating a healthy, comfortable, and encouraging learning environment where students feel supported and confident in their growth. Having completed the DELF B2 exam and studied French through Grade 12, as well as having attended a French-language elementary school in the Conseil Scolaire Viamonde, I bring both advanced language experience and understanding of the curriculum and expectations of the French school system.
My approach as a tutor begins with a meaningful consultation with the student (and their parents where appropriate) to clearly identify where support is needed and which specific areas of French learning we should focus on. Whether a student is struggling with reading comprehension, wanting to strengthen their writing, or hoping to build confidence in speaking, I create a personalized lesson plan that adapts to their goals, learning styles, and grade level.
A typical lesson includes a warm review of previous material, guided practice tailored to the student's abilities, and structured skill-building activities designed to make French both accessible and enjoyable. I work with students from Grades 1-12 and provided help with school assignments, homework, projects, presentations, and preparation for tests or quizzes. For younger learners, I assign light weekly homework to reinforce new concepts and ensure continuous progress between sessions.
My goal is to guide each student through their own learning journey with patience, clarity, and personalized strategies that truly help them thrive in French.
