About Elina
Hi, I’m Elina! I am a dedicated sixth form student currently studying A-Levels in Mathematics, Economics, and Politics with predicted grades of A*A*A*, offering online tutoring for 11+, GCSE, and AS level Maths.
Over the past three years, I have tutored multiple students through their 11+ entrance exams, helping them build the confidence, speed, and numerical fluency needed for competitive grammar and independent school entry. Having attended both City of London School for Girls and The Judd School, I have successfully navigated the UK's top independent and grammar systems firsthand. With top grades in my GCSEs, the current curricula and marking schemes are second nature to me.
I know firsthand how overwhelming entrance exams, GCSEs, and AS papers can feel, and I know the exact traps examiners set. My tutoring style is patient, relatable, and approachable; I focus on breaking down multi-step maths problems into clear, logical steps so students understand the underlying reasoning rather than just memorising methods.

Every session is delivered online and tailored directly to the student’s exam board, learning pace, and individual targets.
Rather than relying on generic worksheets, I work interactively via an online digital whiteboard. Students actively write out their working, solve problems in real time, and receive instant feedback. This interactive approach helps build genuine problem-solving independence and identifies conceptual misunderstandings immediately.
Lesson Structure & Focus Areas
11+:
- Core numerical fluency (fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, and BODMAS)
- Breaking down complex, multi-step word problems into straightforward equations.
- Building speed and pattern recognition for numerical reasoning.
- Developing time-management strategies to stay calm and accurate under exam pressure.
Communication & Progress
GCSE:
- Deconstructing challenging 4-to-6-mark questions where methods are easily dropped.
- Aligning working directly with examiner mark schemes to guarantee method marks even if a calculation slips.
- Targeted topic drilling using classified past paper questions.
- Eliminating common calculation pitfalls and building confident exam technique.
AS-Level (Edexcel):
- Bridging the conceptual jump from GCSE to A-Level rigor across Year 12 Pure (calculus, coordinate geometry, exponentials, and logarithms).
- Tackling Edexcel Applied modules with structured methods for Statistics (large data set familiarisation, hypothesis testing) and Mechanics (kinematics, constant acceleration, forces).
- Breaking down Edexcel's distinct, multi-step exam questions and learning to secure full method marks under tight time constraints.
Communication & Progress
- Transparent Updates: Clear, ongoing communication with parents regarding what was covered in each session, areas of strength, and specific targets for the following week so you are always fully informed of your child's progress.
- Session Preparation & Planning: To ensure every session is fully personalised with tailored exam questions and resources, students are asked to send over their chosen topic, test paper, or specific questions at least 48 hours (2 days) in advance.
Please note: The complementary introductory session is a 30-minute consultation to discuss goals, assess the student's level, and plan our syllabus.
