Nnoo, nwanne mmadu!
You are here because you want to learn Asusu Igbo; that's an amazing decision. Whether you're a beginner or heritage speaker, a parent raising bilingual children, or someone passionate about Igbo language, I’m here to help you speak, read, write, and understand Igbo with confidence and pride.

Through my work, I teach students of all ages and backgrounds — and I’ve created a rich ecosystem of learning tools to support you.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN MY LESSONS
My lessons are personalized, practical, and rooted in culture, with a strong focus on real fluency. You will build skills in:

Introduction to the Igbo Language
I will teach you about the Igbo people (ndi Igbo), the alphabet (Abiidii), pronunciation, and tone marks (Udaolu) so you can read, write, and speak Igbo confidently from the very beginning.

Punctuation Marks (Akara Edemede)
You will learn how to use punctuation marks such as kpom (full stop), rikom (comma), akara mkpu (exclamation), and akara ngwu (quotation) so you can write correctly and clearly in Igbo.

Parts of Speech (Nkejiasusu)
I will teach you the core word groups—mkpoaha (noun), nnochiaha (pronoun), nkọwaaha (adjective), ngwaa (verb), nkwuwa (adverb), njikọ (conjunction), mbuzo (preposition), and ntimkpu (interjection)—so you can form proper sentences and expand your vocabulary.

Igbo Grammar & Sentence Formation (Ahiriokwu)
You will learn how to build sentences (ahiriokwu), use tenses, form questions and answers, greet people, and make negative sentences so you can communicate naturally in different situations.

Building Your Igbo Vocabulary
I will teach you numbers (ọnụọgụgụ), time (elekere), currency (ego), seasons (oge), days of the week (ụbọchị izu), and everyday words like family (ezinụlọ) and food (nri) so you can express yourself with a wide range of vocabulary.

Names of Things, Items and Activities (Vocabulary Development)
You will learn the names of body parts (akụkụ ahụ), animals (ụmụ anụmanụ), clothing (uwe), technology (nkà na ụzụ), transportation (ụgbọ njem), sports (egwuregwu), and more so you can describe the world around you in Igbo.

Conversational Igbo for Daily Life
I will teach you how to introduce yourself, express feelings, ask for help, give directions, and shop in Igbo markets so you can hold real-life conversations with confidence.

Advanced Igbo & Cultural Understanding
You will learn to write in Igbo, tell stories (akụkọ ifo), explore festivals (mmemme), and use modern expressions so you can sound fluent while also understanding the depth of Igbo culture.

Igbo Customs and Traditions (Omenala Igbo)
I will teach you about marriage (ilu nwanyi), breaking kolanut (iwa oji), new yam festival (iri ji ohuru), hospitality (ile ọbịa), and omugwo so you can appreciate and engage in Igbo traditional practices.

Igbo Proverbs, Idioms, and Sayings
You will learn ilu (proverbs), traditional sayings, and idiomatic expressions so you can enrich your speech, sound more native, and understand the wisdom in Igbo communication.

You’ll learn how to use Igbo in everyday conversations — not just know the rules. Also, you'll enjoy daily Igbo lessons on TikTok & YouTube platforms — fun and free!

HOW I TEACH
My teaching style is immersive, hands-on, and student-centered. I take you by the hand and guide you step by step, ensuring that you learn smoothly at your own pace, while still keeping lessons engaging and practical. Whether we connect on WhatsApp Video, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom, I create a flexible and interactive environment that makes learning Igbo both fun and effective.

I usually begin with the foundations of the Igbo language—the 36 alphabets (Abiidii), their sounds, and how to use them to form words and sentences. From there, you will discover the different tones (Udaolu), punctuation (Akara edemede), and how “na” functions in sentences. These basics give you the tools to read, write, and pronounce words correctly.

As we move forward, I introduce you to parts of speech (Nkejiasusu) such as mkpoaha (nouns), ngwaa (verbs), and njikọ (conjunctions), so you can confidently build your own sentences. You will learn how to form simple and complex sentences (ahiriokwu), use tenses, greet people in different settings, ask and answer questions, and even make negative sentences.

To make your Igbo practical, I take you through everyday vocabulary—numbers, time, currency, days of the week, seasons, family and relationships, food, and culture. We also expand into describing your world in Igbo, covering topics like body parts, animals, technology, clothing, farming, transportation, and sports.

Once you are comfortable with the basics, we dive into conversational Igbo for daily life. You’ll learn to introduce yourself, express emotions, give directions, ask for help, and even bargain in an Igbo market.

For advanced learners, I help you explore writing in Igbo, storytelling (akụkọ ifo), festivals (mmemme), slangs, and modern expressions—so you not only sound fluent but also understand the richness of Igbo culture. I also guide you into customs and traditions (omenala) such as marriage (ilu nwanyi), kolanut breaking (iwa oji), new yam festival (iri ji ohuru), hospitality (ile ọbịa), and postnatal care (omugwo).

Finally, we enrich your communication with proverbs and idioms (ilu na akpalaokwu), teaching you how to apply them naturally in conversations and storytelling so that you sound truly like a native speaker.

In summary, my approach is not just about teaching you words and rules—it’s about immersing you in the Igbo language and culture until you can think, speak, and express yourself confidently in Igbo.

I also accommodate those who want to learn their particular DIALECTS. I teach learners from all the major and minor Igbo States: Enugu, Anambra, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Delta, Rivers, Kogi, Benue, Cross River, Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa, etc

Details

It is important to note that while my base rate aligns with the platform’s guidelines, SuperProf allows tutors to add “𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀” in this segment!

The maximum amount allowed per hour on the website is #5,000 per hour but my main rate for online lessons is #6000/hr for those residing in Nigeria (experiencing the nation's struggling economy).
Because I teach Igbo to learners from anywhere in the world, students pay according to their country's economic status. Those in EU = 7 Euros/hour, UK = 7 pounds/hour, US and Canada = $8/hr. Other Western countries = $10/hour. This is still a very cheap fee compared to $20/hr which some tutors charge elsewhere. Yet, you'll gain a superb learning experience in my engaging, interactive and explorative Igbo class.

Ra͟t͟e͟ a͟d͟j͟u͟s͟t͟m͟e͟n͟t͟ also takes into consideration the student’s Igbo proficiency level and the tasks required to meet their specific needs, such as lesson preparation, progress tracking, and tailored resources — most of which I pay subscription fees for.

Other considerations include the number of students (e.g., teaching siblings together), time zone differences requiring sessions at unconventional hours, the durations, the amount of sessions in preparation for a fast-approaching exam/language test and costs associated with virtual learning tools.

I am happy to discuss these details further to ensure the best learning experience and 𝑰 𝒂𝒎 𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒏𝒆𝒈𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒓 𝒔𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒃𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒍𝒆𝒔.

Learning Igbo is a rewarding investment you should boldly go into and never look back.

Message me for inquiries and discussions about your needs.
