About Madeleine
Hi there! Thanks for visiting my profile.
A little about me:
- First and foremost, I believe teaching starts with a good relationship. I am a friendly, calm and open-minded person who loves getting to know my students. I find this really helps me to be able to tailor my lessons to suit you as an individual.
- I am a UK-trained teacher with a background in languages and a genuine passion for teaching.
- I graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2020 with a degree in Spanish and History, during which I spent a year in Mexico City as an English Language Assistant at UNAM, working in partnership with the British Council. This experience gave me a strong foundation in language teaching across different cultural contexts.
- After finishing high school in the UK I moved to Chile to start my first job in a primary school. I worked as a classroom assistant and the school's only English Teacher. This experience really motivated me to continue teaching. It was also where I gained fluency in Spanish.
- Since returning to the UK, I have worked in primary schools in Manchester and Sheffield. I am currently completing my PGCE and will have Qualified Teacher Status in June. I bring to my tutoring classroom experience, formal training, and a communicative, student-centred approach to every lesson.
- As a native English speaker with fluency in Spanish and working knowledge of Portuguese, Italian, French, and Swedish, I have a strong appreciation for the challenges of language learning — and the strategies that make it click.
- I work with learners of all ages and levels, and I am committed to creating a supportive, structured environment where students feel confident to practise, make mistakes, and progress. Having worked in managing Special Educational Needs and Disabilities for 2 years, I am also delighted to tutor students with additional needs.
- My main aim is to help you achieve your goals in English- I will do as much as I can to get you there!

Friendly, conversational English language lessons with a native English speaker from the UK.

Communicative language teaching focused on practical, real-world English. Lessons centre on speaking and listening, with structured support in grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension. Any mistakes are corrected constructively and grammar is taught in context rather than in isolation. Lesson plans are tailored to each student's goals and adjusted as they progress.

- Typically 60 minutes; shorter sessions available for younger or beginner learners
- One-to-one format, fully personalised to the student
Qualifications & Experience
- BA Hons Spanish & History, University of Glasgow
- British Council English Language Assistant at UNAM, Mexico City
- Primary school teaching and classroom support experience in Manchester and Sheffield, UK (Specialism in SEND and EAL)
- Currently completing a full UK teaching qualification (QTS)
- Native English speaker; also speaks Spanish (fluent), Portuguese, Italian, French, and Swedish (intermediate)
