About Solène
I am a French teacher and a French speech therapist/dyslexia tutor with 40 years' experience, in Paris and London. Along these years I have taught all levels and ages, one to one or in groups, face to face or on the telephone or online, at my students’ home or in company. I was also Head of French in a London private school for 5 years teaching the whole school from age 4 to age 11 as well as designing their French curriculum. My activities vary from teaching French as a foreign language to homework help or academic/additional support (cours de soutien) for children following the French curriculum in the French schools in London and speech therapy/dyslexia tutoring for French speaking students. I am very pleased to say that my students usually achieve top marks. I am very thorough in my approach but even though we’re working hard it is also in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Lessons are tailored to suit each student in the best way. I work on the 4 skills (speaking, listening, comprehension and writing) as well as grammar and pronunciation unless students have different requirements or do not need one of the skills, writing for example. Level permitting I always start a class with some speaking practice as it is obviously essential. I then go on with the set topic for that day whether it is vocabulary, structures or grammar. I often loosely follow a textbook as it is nice for students to have a reference to go back to between classes but I also like to add very varied materials from current affairs to culture or cooking adapting my choice of materials to my students’ preferences or professional or personal requirements. Conversation classes are usually based on articles which are read beforehand giving an opportunity to reuse new vocabulary and structures during the class. Last but not least I am always available to my students in between classes would they need some help to finish an essay or talk to their French plumber…
