About Emelie
Hi, I’m Emelie! I’m a Canadian ESL teacher based in Montreal with more than 10 years of experience teaching English. What I’ve always loved most about teaching is the conversation — meeting people from different backgrounds, hearing their stories, learning about their work and interests, and helping them become more comfortable expressing themselves in English.
Over the years, I’ve worked with children, adults, professionals, international learners, and Canadian federal government employees. One thing I’ve learned is that knowing English and feeling comfortable speaking it are two very different things. That’s where I love to help.
My lessons are centered around real communication. Of course, we’ll work on vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar when needed, but always with a practical purpose: helping you express yourself more naturally and confidently. I’m curious by nature and genuinely enjoy getting to know my students. I want our lessons to feel like real conversations — the kind where you’re learning and improving, but sometimes forget that you’re even practicing a language.
I’m TESOL/TEFL trained and have extensive experience teaching online, including professional English and Government of Canada SLE preparation.
Whether you’re preparing for an evaluation, using English professionally, or simply wanting to become more comfortable expressing yourself in English, we’ll start wherever you are and build from there.

My lessons are personalized, practical, and built around real communication. I believe the best way to learn English is to actually use it, so conversation is at the heart of every lesson.
We’ll begin by identifying your goals, interests, strengths, and the areas where you feel less confident. From there, I’ll build lessons around what you genuinely need English for—whether that’s communicating more naturally in everyday life, feeling confident at work, expanding your vocabulary, improving grammar and pronunciation, or preparing for a Government of Canada Second Language Evaluation (SLE).
Rather than simply memorizing rules, we’ll use grammar and vocabulary in meaningful conversations, with plenty of practice, repetition, feedback, and opportunities to speak.
For SLE learners, I can also provide targeted oral practice, Level B and C-style questions, simulations, follow-up questions, and strategies for developing clear, natural, well-structured answers.
Most importantly, my classroom is a supportive place to speak, experiment, make mistakes, ask questions, and grow. Every learner is different, and your lessons should be too.
