About Shiniqua
Hi, I’m a dedicated and supportive English tutor with a strong academic background, having achieved an A in GCSE English Language, an A* in GCSE English Literature, and a Distinction in my Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
I have a genuine passion for helping children build confidence in their reading, writing, and communication skills. I understand that every child learns differently, so I take a patient and personalised approach to ensure each student feels comfortable, engaged, and motivated in every session.
My goal is not just to improve academic ability, but to help children feel more confident in themselves and their learning. I break down concepts into simple, manageable steps, making lessons both effective and enjoyable.

Approach to Tutoring & Teaching Style
My approach to tutoring is centred around building confidence first, then skill. Children learn best when they feel comfortable, engaged, and supported, so I create a positive and encouraging environment where they’re not afraid to make mistakes.
Every lesson is tailored to the individual child’s level, pace, and learning style. I focus on making learning feel enjoyable and achievable, while still ensuring clear progress each week.
Techniques & Teaching Methodology
I use a combination of structured teaching and interactive learning to keep children engaged and progressing:
Phonics and early reading development for younger learners
Creative writing and storytelling to build confidence and expression
Grammar, spelling, and sentence structure taught in a simple, digestible way
Reading comprehension techniques to improve understanding and analysis
Games, visuals, and engaging activities to make lessons enjoyable
Positive reinforcement to build confidence and consistency
For ages 3–6, lessons are more play-based and visual.
For ages 7–12, sessions become more structured with a focus on academic development and school support.
Typical Lesson Length
Ages 3–6: 30 minutes
Ages 7–12: 45–60 minutes
Each session includes learning, guided practice, and a recap to reinforce progress.

I achieved an A in GCSE English Language, an A* in GCSE English Literature, and a Distinction in my Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
These qualifications reflect a strong understanding of reading, writing, and analytical skills, which I break down into simple, practical steps for younger learners.
