About Nicole
With 20 years of teaching experience and 18 years of tutoring experience, I have dedicated my career to helping students grow as readers, writers, and critical thinkers. Throughout that time, I have worked with students of varying abilities, learning styles, and academic goals, from those seeking extra support to those striving for top scores on standardized tests and AP exams.
I currently teach Honors English and Advanced Placement Language & Composition at the high school level, allowing me to stay connected to the skills and expectations students face in today's classrooms. In addition to classroom teaching, I have extensive experience preparing students for the SAT, ACT, AP exams, and college admissions essays. As these exams have evolved over the years, I have continually adapted my methods and materials to ensure students receive relevant, effective instruction.
My goal is not only to help students improve their scores and grades but also to build confidence, independence, and a deeper understanding of the material. I pride myself on creating a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and challenging themselves. Families can expect professionalism, clear communication, and a genuine commitment to helping each student reach their full potential.

My approach to tutoring is centered on meeting students where they are and helping them build the skills, confidence, and strategies they need to succeed. Every student learns differently, so I tailor my instruction to their individual strengths, challenges, and goals rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.
A typical lesson begins with a review of previous concepts and progress toward goals. From there, we focus on targeted instruction, guided practice, and immediate feedback. For SAT and ACT students, this may include reviewing question types, practicing test-taking strategies, analyzing mistakes, and completing timed exercises. For English and AP students, lessons may focus on reading comprehension, writing skills, rhetorical analysis, essay development, or course-specific content. I believe students learn best when they understand not only the correct answer, but also the reasoning behind it.
What sets me apart is my combination of 20 years of classroom teaching experience and 18 years of tutoring experience. I have worked through multiple revisions of the SAT and ACT and have continually adapted my methods as the exams have evolved. As a current high school English teacher, I stay connected to the skills students are expected to master in today's classrooms while helping them prepare for the demands of college admissions and advanced coursework.
My lessons are designed for middle school, high school, and college-bound students. I work with students preparing for the SAT, ACT, AP English exams, and college admissions essays, as well as those seeking support in English language arts, reading comprehension, writing, and study skills. Whether a student is striving for a top score, aiming to improve grades, or simply looking to build confidence, I create a supportive and encouraging environment where growth can happen.
