About Jenn
Since 1999, I have worked with students who were often overlooked, were not motivated, and who underachieved in school because they had learning needs that were not being addressed. I have found ways to encourage younger students to read more and build their vocabulary exponentially; and I have also worked with older students who never thought they would go to college, to get them accepted into their dream schools -- and helped many of them find scholarships to pay for school, too. While raising my 3 boys (two with Special Needs & Learning Difficulties), I often had to navigate the Special Education system. I realized how hard it was to find people who knew what my boys needed in order to learn and who were able to help them thrive, both in and out of school. Most of the time I was the one who figured out what they needed -- both educationally and socially. When I saw that the things I did with them worked, I knew I had to return to school to become a teacher. I got not just one, but eventually two, Master's degrees. The first was an MS in Education; the second made it possible for me to be certified to teach Students with Special Needs.
