About Kayla
I am a certified middle school ELA teacher with a Bachelor’s degree in Middle Level Education, specializing in English Language Arts and History. I currently teach 8th grade and have experience working with students with a wide range of academic needs, including students in ICR (In-Class Resource) settings.
I believe every student is capable of success when they are given the right support, encouragement, and strategies. My goal is to create a comfortable learning environment where students feel confident asking questions, making mistakes, and challenging themselves. I provide personalized instruction while helping students build stronger academic, organizational, and executive-function skills.
Whether your child needs help with reading comprehension, writing, grammar, homework, study skills, or simply building confidence in ELA, I am committed to meeting them where they are and helping them grow. I bring real classroom experience, patience, professionalism, and genuine care for my students to every lesson.

My approach to tutoring is personalized, supportive, and focused on helping students become confident and independent learners. As a certified middle school ELA teacher, I understand that every student learns differently, so I adjust my instruction based on their individual strengths, needs, learning style, and goals. I use strategies such as modeling, guided practice, questioning, scaffolding, repetition, differentiated instruction, and real-world examples to make learning easier to understand and apply.
A typical lesson begins with a quick check-in and review of previous skills, followed by an introduction to the day’s learning goal. I then model the skill or concept, work through examples with the student, and provide guided practice before allowing the student to demonstrate the skill independently. I also incorporate time for questions, organization, and executive-function support when needed. Each lesson ends with a brief review of progress and a clear goal or next step for the student.
What sets me apart is my experience working with a wide range of middle school learners, including students in ICR (In-Class Resource) settings. I don’t simply focus on completing assignments—I work to help students understand the material, develop effective learning habits, build confidence, and become more independent. I also connect students with additional academic resources and support when appropriate.
My lessons are primarily designed for middle school students in grades 6–8 who need support with English Language Arts, reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, essay writing, homework, study skills, and executive-function skills such as organization, time management, and goal setting. I also welcome students who may benefit from differentiated instruction, additional structure, or individualized academic support.
