About Gita
I have earned both a master's degree and a bachelor's degree in cello performance, finishing both with a 4.0 GPA. I have experience privately teaching cello students ages 8-85+. I have 4 years of experience teaching string playing in an orchestral classroom setting to beginners ages 8-10, intermediate players ages 10-13, and more advanced players ages 13-18. From my personal practice of learning and mastering challenging music and my involvement supporting other individuals, I have incorporated patience and grit as two fundamental elements of my approach to music with myself and others.

I approach each lesson intentionally to impart clarity through compassionate collaboration. I make a priority of learning about my students' individual learning styles, their unique challenges and strengths in their subjects, and about who they are and who they want to become through growth. It is not my job just to teach a subject: it is my job to teach a subject to the unique student in the way that they will understand and retain. My goal is to teach my students self-sufficiency in learning, thinking, and growing such that they experience self-confidence in their personal practice and joy in the learning process.
