About Rachel
Hey there! My name is Rachel, or many also call me by the fun names of Raquel, Rach, Señorita, or even Títí Tochi (the last one has a fun story within my family ;-) ). I’m originally from the States, but have had the privilege of being a global citizen in traveling to various continents over the last ten years. Throughout the last decade, I’ve embraced the roles of both student and teacher in the arts and languages. I’ve taught young adults film photography and darkroom techniques and introduced international boarding school students to the Spanish language. Having had the privilege of taking a gap year after high school for global (and personal) exploration, and as someone preparing to further study the Spanish language and culture, I deeply value an educational approach that adapts to the learner’s unique pace. I believe education comes in many forms, and I’m passionate about creating personalized learning experiences that honor each student’s individual rhythm and style. Beyond teaching, I’m deeply invested in a variety of passions, including sports and movement (i.e. running, swimming, yoga, and recently, kickboxing!), film photography, psychology, watercolor painting, writing, storytelling, and alternative photographic printing processes like cyanotypes. I'm thrilled to help you discover, nurture, and expand your artistic talents through photography and storytelling, while guiding you to explore your passions in an engaging and multidisciplinary way!

When diving into one of my photography and/or storytelling lessons, we'll explore the following (dependent on your level and needs of course!): ~ the basics behind light metering and how cameras capture images through light in the first place! ~ how to handle your camera manually (with either a digital or analog SLR camera) ~ learning ways in which to discover your own, unique lens on the world ~ how to be in your own, artistic energy while simultaneously being aware of the energies of who and what you're capturing (both in photography and writing/storytelling) ~ learning how to define your own photography and storytelling style through your passions, voice, and unique perspective ~ how to navigate "imposter syndrome" and boost your confidence in sharing your art with the world! These lessons are best suited for high school aged students and older. Ultimately, through my lessons, we will connect, collaborate, and co-create to support you in bringing your photography and/or storytelling interests to the next level. :-)
