About Ashton
I have been working with children, youth and adults in an academic and volunteer setting for ten years! Growing up, I had the incredible opportunity to travel the world and attend several international private schools which instilled in me both, an appreciation for academics and for being a part of a close knit educational community. My post-secondary education at the University of British Columbia further ignited my passion for French language and for education. I completed a Bachelor of Arts with a French language major in 2016 and I have completed my Bachelor of Education with a specialization in French secondary with International Baccalaureate (IB) certification in August 2017. I continue to further my education by regularly attending professional training days.

I believe that learning a language should be fun and engaging. My teaching methodology involves authentic tasks and resources that not only allows my students to master the language but gain cultural knowledge. My classes and/or tutoring sessions are 75-100% in the target language. I begin every class/session with basic conversation to warm-up! Next, we will set the goals for the day and figure out what we want to accomplish with our time together. For all of my classes, I try to hit reading, writing and speaking! These are the three pillars of understanding a language. However, if your goal is speaking we will work on that skill.
