About Emily
Hi! I am from the United States, and have experience studying abroad as both a language student and English teacher in Costa Rica. My best subjects in school were English grammar and reading, and I can help students with both. I am patient and will explain the same concept as many times as needed for my students, as making mistakes is how you learn!

-My classes focus on teaching and helping to understand grammatical concepts as well as review vocabulary, and then reinforce these concepts in conversation
Lesson Plan
- Begin the class by asking student questions about their life, recent events, the weather (depending on their level)
- Review material from the previous lesson and test knowledge in quizzes as well as conversation (test vocabulary and knowledge of grammatical tenses and rules), as well as with the homework I assign
- Begin reviewing new material that will add to previous learned material
- Test new knowledge with conversation and games
- Go over what is expected on that days homework
- If any time is left continue with conversation practice, focusing again on new vocabulary as well as grammatical concepts
What sets me apart?
As an English teacher I will not simply teach you textbook English you will need for writing, but actual spoken English to sound more like a native. I will help to explain grammatical concepts as well as what the equivalent in your native language might be to better help you understand when to used such learned concepts, as well as reinforce the main vocabulary I and others use in our personal life to create a good foundation of the English language. Furthermore, I myself have experience as a Spanish student, and so know the potential struggles when learning a new language, and what helped me.
Who are the lessons for?
- The lessons are for those with a beginner/elementary to upper intermediate knowledge of English. I primarily have experience teaching kids and teenagers, but have also taught adults, and am more than happy to teach and help with more advanced levels, depending on the needs of the student.
