About Phoebe
I am a young, but experienced Music teacher based in Hammersmith & Fulham, with students across London. Since gaining distinction in my Grade 8 Piano, as well as my Grade 8 Trumpet, I started teaching both instruments privately through word-of-mouth recommendations. I also teach the Violin (absolute beginner - Grade 2) at which I have 100% Distinction rate at ABRSM exams. After gaining the top grades at GCSE and A Level Music, as a Music Scholar, I have also started tutoring pupils in preparation for these exams. As I completed them relatively recently, I have first-hand knowledge of the exact mark scheme and syllabus and know many great tips and tricks that have helped my students perform at their best and achieve the highest grades (7-9).
I will be studying Music at Durham University next year but during my gap year I hope to be able to help even more students of all ages to achieve their potential. I have a fun approach, especially with younger learners, which makes sure they view practising their instrument as a fun activity instead of a chore, which really helps with the pace of improvement. However, I make sure that correct technique is taught from the start as strong foundational skills then provide a great base for more advanced skills to be mastered. I also tutor in preparation from ABRSM Theory exams Grade 1-5 (100% Merit/Distinction rate), with many pupils then wanting to continue to the higher grades, even if not necessary for their instrumental exam requirements!
