About Phoebe

Hi, I am Phoebe. I have recently finished Philosophy BA at King's College London. I achieved a first in my first year, with firsts in half of my modules. I have achieved high logic grades with Elementary Logic - 91% and Intermediate Logic - 79%.

During my A levels I thrived in Philosophy and Ethics and achieved an A*. In my A2 exams I achieved 100% in Ethics and 95% in Philosophy. Additionally, I also achieved a very high D3 in Pre-U English literature.

My experience:
- 1 year voluntary tutoring for Action Tutoring
- 18 months volunteering as a teaching assistant at Bristol Grammar School.

Areas I can focus on:
- Exam technique
- Essay writing skills
- Learning concepts and deepening knowledge.
- Building up academic confidence

My Approach:
Due to my previous teaching experience I understand how important it is to tailor lessons to each pupil as this will enable us to work on difficult areas. I will firstly teach the pupils the topics and make sure they understand the content. Then we will focus on essay structures and exam technique, as well as practice writing.

I often find that pupils know the content required to achieve high marks but what they struggle with is confidence, structuring their ideas and applying their knowledge to exam questions.

A Bit About Me:
I have recently finished studying Philosophy BA at King’s College London, where I have explored philosophical ideas, improved my analytical skills and developed my writing skills and learnt the mark schemes. As a result of this experience, along with my A level Philosophy and Ethics experience, I have a strong grip on what is required for outstanding philosophy essays, as well as simple tips and tricks to boost one’s grade.

I have spent the past year volunteering for Action Tutoring, in order to try and beneficially impact young peoples lives. I have found that aiding students in their school work, being a positive role model, and seeing their growth as individuals, has not only been intellectually stimulating but emotionally rewarding.

My own educational experience has been a major part in leading me to higher education, building up my confidence and generally shaping me into the person I am today. As a result, I appreciate the extent to which a tutor can positively impact a student’s life. Access to good education has the potential to provide opportunities that would otherwise not be available to certain students. My tutoring experience has enabled me to reflect on my skillset and I believe I am well suited to tutoring as I am an organised, empathetic and enthusiastic individual.
