About Ivan
I have played chess since childhood, but really took it up seriously in 2016. I have competed for Lewisham Chess Club in the ECF, reaching a maximum rating of 142. In teaching, I have had 5 1-on-1 students in the last 2 years and have helped them improve their understanding of the game, as well as their ratings on online platforms such as lichess and chess.com. My approach is very client-oriented, as I love chess and like to see players develop.
If you are looking for a professional chess coach, that is not me, as I don't have the chess skill to be or teach at Master level and beyond.

I base my classes on assessing what is the student starting point, goals, and how much time they can invest. I usually have taught 1-on-1 students, in order to be able to concentrate on their development. I am good at keeping beginners interested in the game, without sacrificing quality of teaching.

Ivan and I studied at the same colleague. He is a patient, calm and anytical tutor who had pointed out several of my weaknesses and provided valuable recommendations on how to mitigate or even elimate them. His tutorials were a real eye-opener for me and definitely improved my chess game.
Ivan is a great chess tutor! I'm a beginner and after just a few sessions with him I understand the game much better. I'm already much more confident and successful and I'm constantly improving my ranking thanks to Ivan's support! Highly recommend booking your first session with him!
