About Zachary Tak Ming

Hi everyone! My name is Zach and I recently completed my MSc in Security Studies here at UCL in London. I am originally from Vancouver, Canada, where I received my BA in Political Science & History at the University of British Columbia. My background has been a bit unorthadox, as I've worked professionally all through my studies: I have a wide range of experience from law enforcement to finance, and even in the environmental/conservation sector. Academically, my specialties are in political science, IR, history (particularly African), and economics to a lesser extent. Beyond my basic studies I've been tutoring on and off for about 3 years primarily to lower year undergrads and served as an editor for an academic journal. I hope to turn these skills into valuable instruction for you.

Lastly, I like to think I'm a laid back person with a good sense of humour!

Being a laid back person, and being from the West Coast (where people generally operate a bit more casually), I believe in a relaxed learning environment where you can truly come to enjoy learning. When you enjoy what you learn, you retain and integrate the knowledge much better than simple rote memorisation. As such, I promise to create an inviting and enjoyable environment where we can connect beyond just the topic of study and propel you toward excellent performance.
