About Rebecca
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have over 10 years' experience teaching English to speakers of other languages, teaching at all levels and to varying ages, both in the classroom and online. I taught English as a Foreign Language in St. Petersburg, Russia for over 3 years, before returning to my native town of Manchester (UK) and specialising in online tuition of my subject. I also have corporate experience in the Export/Marketing sphere, where I used my Russian language skills on a daily basis. This experience inspired me to specialise in teaching English to those who need it for business purposes.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
As I currently only teach adults, I do not have an up-to-date certificate, but would be happy to obtain one if you/your organisation required this.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
I teach adult students of varying ages - one is based in Moscow and uses English as a lingua franca when communicating with internationally-based colleagues. Another is considering starting a career in physiotherapy in the UK. My student base is diverse and I am grateful for the interesting time I spend getting to know and helping people progress.

I am a friendly, encouraging EFL teacher with over 10 years' experience. As a person who studied two languages to degree level, I understand the challenges and rewards of learning a foreign language to fluency. I'd love to help you do the same!
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I specialise in teaching English as a foreign language (EFL) online, to learners of any language level and ability. As a business founder and former export marketer, I am able to help learners understand and speak modern, relevant English for use within the business setting. I have often used my own foreign language skills in my everyday work and would be happy to help you do that confidently too! However, if it's conversational English you are interested in, I am of course fully qualified to help.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
After completing my BA degree in German and Russian (The University of Manchester, 2004), I gained my certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from the Benedict School, St. Petersburg, Russia.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £24 per full hour for individual lessons, or £36 per hour for an hour lesson for 2 people (maximum). The 20-minute consultation we have before starting is of course free of charge.
- Where do you teach?
I teach exclusively online, so you can learn English with me wherever you are!
- When are you available?
I currently have time slots available on Mondays and Wednesdays between 11:30am and 3:30pm (UK time). However, I do have a degree of flexibility to suit students' needs. If in doubt, please just ask.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
My lesson materials are aimed at adult learners who need English in a business setting. For this reason, I do not currently offer lessons to people under 18 years old. I am able to teach any level: from Beginner to Advanced. As a language graduate fluent in Russian and German, I am able to support speakers of these languages at Beginner level when required.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
All lessons take place via Skype. I offer an initial consultation of 20 minutes to discuss your needs, assess your level and answer any questions you may have about our lessons. Once our lesson times are agreed, I email through all lesson material in advance and we are ready to go!
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I honestly love teaching and helping my students achieve their goals. The beauty of individual/small group teaching means I can tailor lessons to suit your needs and help you reach the level your hard work deserves!
