About Autumn
Hi! I’m someone who genuinely enjoys learning and helping others grow. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Music Education and a master’s degree in Education, and I bring both classroom experience and a love for teaching into everything I do.
As the oldest girl of ten children, I naturally grew up in a leadership role, which taught me patience, responsibility, and how to support different types of learners. I enjoy meeting people where they are and helping them build confidence step by step.
My faith is an important part of my life and guides how I show up with kindness and integrity in all that I do. Outside of work and school, I enjoy traveling, flowers, coffee, and long walks. I am currently studying nursing and will graduate in December.

My approach as a tutor is structured, supportive, and detail-oriented, with a strong focus on helping students build confidence in grammar, spelling, proofreading, and phonetics. As a teacher with experience teaching high school English, I understand how to break down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps while still challenging students to grow. I also adapt my approach for younger learners by making lessons more interactive and engaging.
In my lessons, I use a combination of direct instruction, guided practice, and active correction. I incorporate real writing samples, either from the student or provided by me, to make learning practical and relevant. I focus on identifying patterns in mistakes so students can learn to recognize and correct errors independently, rather than relying only on corrections.
A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previously learned material, followed by introducing a focused concept such as sentence structure, punctuation, spelling patterns, or phonetics. We then work through examples together before moving into guided and independent practice. For older students, this often includes proofreading and editing exercises, while younger students may engage in interactive activities, games, or reading-based exercises. Each lesson ends with a recap and optional practice to reinforce learning.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my strong classroom experience, attention to detail, and ability to adjust my teaching style based on the student’s age and learning needs. I create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, while also maintaining clear expectations to help them improve consistently. My background allows me to support both foundational skills and more advanced academic writing.
My lessons are designed for elementary, middle school, high school, and college students, as well as adult learners and English language learners. I work with students who need help with foundational reading and writing skills, as well as those looking to improve grammar, spelling, and proofreading for essays and assignments. Each session is tailored to the student’s level and goals, whether they are building basic skills or refining advanced writing.
