About Lisa
I love to learn. Teaching is my passion. I have been a teacher in U.S. public schools for over 10 years, and I have worked as an English teacher in a local high school in China for 3 years. In 2020, I earned a Ph.D. in Language and Literacy Education and the topic of my research was about teachers of English and their students. I am a firm believer that the teacher must understand the culture and educational background of the students to best support their learning. I continue to work with ELL students who attend universities in the U.S.

I have an extensive background in education of ELL's that includes over 3 years as a teacher in China. I develop learning activities to meet the learning needs of my students (language proficiency, interests, learning styles). My lessons are interactive and I specialize in building vocabulary and providing writing support. I am qualified to work with students who have limited language proficiency (G2 equivalent) through university students. My content areas are ELA, social studies, and culture. I also have extensive experience providing feedback and editing academic papers.

Ms. Lisa has been my writing mentor since 2019. She has traveled abroad and lived in a foreign country for many years. We discuss our experiences of being surrounded by multiple cultures.
