About Ashleigh
I am a 35-year-old South African who is passionate about people, books and about learning. In addition to majoring in English at university, I also majored in psychology and have experience in counseling.
The reasons I am drawn to teaching are identical to my reasons for becoming a counselor: I love to help people equip and empower themselves.

I tutor first and second language speakers needing additional academic support, as well as speakers of other languages aiming to master English at a more proficient level.
My lessons are paced according to the needs of each student, as each of my students is a unique individual.
I majored in English and qualified as a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) instructor, because I am passionate about the English language and love to see that spark ignite in my students.
My method is to start out by determining the specific requirements and expectations of my student, and that informs the planning for our lesson structures. I prefer empowering students with a solid basic understanding before assigning tasks and projects, and believe that making a few mistakes is essential to any student’s learning process.
I aim to equip my students not only with a firm foundation for testing and examination scenarios, but for the application of effective English language usage in real life circumstances.
