About Rana
I am a third year student at Bryn Mawr College in the USA , studying a double major (2 separate degrees) in English Literature and Chemistry. I was raised in and went to school in London and received a full scholarship to attend university in the United Stated. I am fluent in Farsi and have experience teaching English to non-native speakers. At university, I work in the writing centre, aiding students with academic writing and thesis writing. I am highly skilled at prompting students to come up with their own ideas about the text as well as refining their analytical writing.

My teaching strategy is dependant on the learning style of my students. I take great care in noticing and taking into account their strengths and weaknesses and the way in which they learn best. Specifically with GCSE and A-Level students, I ensure that my students not only study the text, but engage with it personally. Literature and language are entirely subjective, especially in conjunction with speakers of other languages. As a bi-lingual teacher, I highlight the importance of context, culture and experience in literary analysis. As a student who studied in London and attended university in the USA with a full scholarship, I am adept at working with students on their university applications, ranging from personal statements and common application essays to SAT and ACT preparation. My lessons range from 1-2 hours for exam and university preparation and from 30 minutes to 1 hour for students learning English for the first time. I am fluent in Farsi and proficient in German.
