About Aanya
Hello! My name is Aanya. I studied English Literature at university, where my dissertation explored the gothic tropes in the works of Gabriel García Márquez, particularly through the lens of abjection—a theory developed by Julia Kristeva. I have a deep love for reading, both for pleasure and through the lens of critical analysis. I’m especially drawn to South American literature and magical realism, particularly the way the mundane conceals layers of mystery. As a teacher, my goal is to offer more than just good grades. I want to help my students truly engage with literature and uncover the lessons embedded in texts that have stood the test of time.

I prioritise discussion in my tutoring style, fostering engagement and critical thinking. Typically, my lessons last for one hour. I have two years of experience in the education sector. After earning my Bachelor's degree in English, I began teaching at a school in Spain. Upon returning to the UK, I secured a teaching position at a school in North West London. I offer lessons for students aged 11-18, covering both GCSE and A-Level English.
