About Lizzie

My love for English literature started a young age and I excelled in the subject at both GCSE and A level achieving A*s in both examinations. I'm now a university graduate from a world renowned institution with an impeccable English Literature Department. I have experience teaching across the globe working for a school in South-Eastern China. I have seen children go from shy wallflowers, afraid to speak up, to confident verbal and written communicators able to express themselves and their ideas fluently. I love tutoring and get a real thrill from seeing my students success be that a primary, GSCE or A level, level. About the lesson

I believe in taking a holistic approach to studying English. Language, literature...when you take a step back you realise it's all about expression and communication! I help my students to understand both the formal and contextual aspects of a text by asking questions and creating a dialogue. Contrary to a classroom environment this is done in a fun, friendly and encouraging way! You don't have the faintest idea about Robert Browning's monologue? No problem, we'll talk through it together, the historical/social setting, the modes and writing popular at the time and then take a look at it again with fresh eyes!

I try to make the learning experience is as interesting and exciting as I know it can be!

After we've gotten to grips with the literature we can get to work on getting all of your fantastic ideas onto paper and I'll help school you on the art of essay writing honing the skills you already have and building on the things you might be struggling with. If you break it down and plan it out with me, I'm sure together we'll be able to achieve an essay you might not at first have felt you could produce.
