About Sasha
My academic and professional experience has helped me to refine and hone my ability to actively listen to the experience of an individual, and support them through challenging circumstances while considering the many different aspects of their experiences. Academia is only one thing that you do as a person - it does not define your value or worth as a human being. Nor do grades reflect your intelligence. I've received some pretty awful grades throughout my schooling, honestly! When tutoring students, the most important thing to me is the willingness of the person in front of me to be present and engaged in their improvement, and the needs they have that require dedicated support. No matter where you are in your journey or what your marks are, I will meet you where you are and work with you to determine realistic, practical expectations and goals. I am patient, empathetic, and foster a collaborative & mutually respectful professional relationship with students.

I hold a one-hour initial session with each new student I meet - we discuss their goals, expectations, strengths, likes and dislikes, and their current approach to studying. This gives me a clear idea of their insight into their learning and skills, and marks areas to work on. Lessons are sixty to ninety minutes long, depending on the student's needs. My sessions are targeted towards set coursework and class tasks, and supporting students by elaborating upon expectations, assessment criteria, and discussing texts in-depth. My approach is targeted towards strengthening the student's self-reliance and initiative, rather than a lecture they have to sit through. However, I wouldn't be opposed to delivering tutoring like this, if that's what you need! I am flexible, friendly, open, warm and encouraging. I have experience tutoring VCE Year 11-12 students, and supporting university-level students with essay writing and proofreading, and approaching assessments.

Details
Writing worksheets or practice questions/exercises will incur the usual hourly rate. Assignment proofreading and editing (strictly NO rewriting will be done!) will also incur the usual hourly rate. Same applies for marking practice exams and essays. Total cost will depend on the depth of feedback you ask for, and the length of the essay.
