About Sophie
I am a recent high school graduate admitted to the University of Waterloo's Mathematics and Business Double Degree program. I graduated with the Honours Certificate of Bilingual Studies (French Immersion) with a 95%+ average, I have experience coaching elementary-aged children and tutoring elementary and high school math. I am currently taking a gap year to try to qualify for the 2021 Olympic games in rhythmic gymnastics.

I start off by asking my students to reflect on their strengths and needs when it comes to learning, and additionally determine their learning style. I can then adapt my teachings based on the students learning style and provide with with problem solving strategies based on this.
In my opinion, the most important aspect of being a tutor/mentor for students is providing them with the skills they need to succeed both inside and outside of the classroom. It’s important to me to not just teach students the material, but to encourage them and help them build up their confidence towards understanding the material. I hope to share my passion for math and teaching to help students enjoy learning.
I can tutor math for students up to grade 11 in both English and French, along with grade 11 physics (in English)
