  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I’m still an engineering student. Yet I have been tutoring students from high school students for past 4 years. I help my friends in college exams as well. I learned I was good at tutoring the students while I was in grade 12 I used to help students of grade 10 at that time and really got interested in tutoring students. Since then, I have helped a lot of students from high school to university students. In the past year on superprof I got chance to tutor people even older than me. I have never felt private tutoring as a job but its something is like to do.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

The subjects I’m really good at are physics, Maths, and some engineering subjects like geotechnical engineering, Fluid mechanics, Transportation. The topics I like the most are calculus, linear motion, gravitation, Kinematics, Electromagnetism, Newtons law, trigonometry, probability, statistic, coordinate geometry etc. topics I like less are thermodynamics and chemistry.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Well, my mom has been tutoring students for past 25 years so I learned few things from her. Apart from her I had an exceptional tutor in grade 11 by whom I think I’m influenced the most. His way of teaching, his dedication, his knowledge, his way of understanding topics influenced me the most.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

I really try to teach the student in a way I wanted my tutor to teach me.
I just don’t teach the topic I build up the idea of the topic. I make mistakes too but I try to make the students understands topic to that clarity that they can point out my mistakes and correct me. I believe the best understanding of topic comes from real life application and I try to make the students understand from real life example especially in physics I believe visualizing the topic is the best way to understand that topic.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

I was in grade 8 and I had completely forgot about my final exams. It was just a night before someone reminded about the exams. I hated math at that time. So didn’t had much time to remember the formulas and everythings so first time in my life I tried to understand them and that night I realised how easy math was! So the thing I learned from this incident was how important understanding was and how easily things can be done once you develop understanding of that thing
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or are still facing in your subject?

I tend to forget stuff at times so sometimes, so I just need to have a look at the topic a day before the day of tutoring. I might need few hours to explain the topic perfectly.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

I enjoy teaching. Its not teaching actually I enjoy the making efforts along with the students and build the understanding of the topics once we get a realisation of how we understood the topic make the efforts worth it. Tutoring never feels like a job because I learn something new each time, even though I teach same topics to 2 different students yet their doubt and making each one understand the same topic differently helps me improve my understanding.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P)?

My way of understanding the topics, way of solving the problems, learning real life application and clarity in teaching method. I’m quite dedicated, focused, stubborn. I don’t let any student go until and unless they learn something new. I have few different tricks and tips in maths that might not be that common, but they help greatly in solving question. I’m quite passionate about physics not just teaching but learning too, I can learn new topics that I don’t know and explain them too.
