I have known Miss Kerry all my life, literally since birth; we're cousins =)
When COVID hit, my son was finishing senior kindergarten. Fast forward two years and he (like a lot of kids) was really struggling with the "on again, off again" virtual classroom experience. His teacher expressed concern about his reading level, but at home, he was independently reading about a grade 6 level (he was in grade 2 at the time). He was experiencing a lot of sadness, there was some concern about his social development, and he would clearly say things like "school is a waste of my time".
I saw that Miss Kerry was offering private virtual tutoring sessions and I thought a one-on-one relationship might help him. After their very first session, Miss Kerry *strongly* encouraged me to get him tested for giftedness and a possible learning disability. We had always known he was clever, but Miss Kerry saw right away that there was something else at play, and she was right.
We later confirmed exactly what she had predicted (2E, or "twice exceptional"). He is now in a dedicated classroom for special needs and he is thriving.
I'm eternally grateful to Miss Kerry for starting us on the path to better understanding our son's needs, and for supporting him through that challenging time.
While I obviously have some bias, I honestly believe Miss Kerry is one of the best teachers I've ever known. She is deeply invested in her students' success and she has a keen ability to hone in on their specific needs.
