About Nancy
Inspiring others and making the world a better place is what drives Nancy Mma-Ngaare Mba. Nancy is an Electrical and Electronics Engineering student at Ashesi University who is currently in her junior year. Her love for community engagement and leadership has driven several roles and experiences.
Nancy discovered her love for storytelling and poetry when she was 13, inspired by her father, who taught her to read and write first with a storybook, Aesop's fables. She has since learned the art of public speaking, poetry, and storytelling through practice. She has performed at both international events in honour of special Guest speakers like H.E Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, H.E Joyce Banda, H.E Ameenah Gurib Fakim, H.E Joyce Mujuru, H.E Arikana Chihombouri-Quao, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, and more. As a storyteller/Public Speaker, she has performed at events like TEDx Ashesi, the International Sheroes Forum, the Ghana Power Compact Internship and Mentoring Program, and the Weclome Ceremony of the Wakanda One Project of Return Project Launce and Trade Expo (Royal Dinner).
Nancy believes that there is a meeting point for STEM, arts, and Politics and continues to share her passion and skills as she pursues Engineering at Ashesi. At Ashesi, she has served as an Engineering Curriculum Design Associate at Firenze Organization, seeking to bridge innovation and technological gaps amongst children and teens in Ghana through sharp-witted youth and cutting-edge solutions. She has also served coaching roles at Ashesi for Foundations of Design and Entrepreneurship (FDE), the Ashesi Buddy-Up program, and student volunteers.
Before Ashesi, Nancy had her secondary school education at St. Francis of Assisi Girls' Senior High. She graduated with excellent results and was a noteworthy leader in student governance. Driven by her love for mathematics, she got into African Science Academy, becoming part of the 22 brilliant girls selected from Africa to complete the rigorous Cambridge A-Level Maths, Further Maths, and Physics in 11 months instead of two years in 2018.
