About Jay Rhon
I have been playing chess for over 12 years, and chess has been an important part of my personal and academic journey. I have participated in district and provincial chess tournaments, achieving Top 3 and Top 5 finishes.
As an Education student, I am passionate about teaching and helping others improve. I have experience handling students in real-life learning environments and have successfully helped students develop their chess skills and achieve positive results.
My teaching style is patient, friendly, and focused on understanding. I believe every student learns differently, so I adjust my lessons according to their current skill level, goals, and learning pace.
Whether you're completely new to chess or already have tournament experience, I will help you build your skills step by step while making each lesson enjoyable and engaging.

I provide interactive and personalized online chess lessons for beginners to intermediate players. I explain chess concepts in a simple and easy-to-understand way, using an online chessboard, puzzles, game analysis, and practice games.
Instead of focusing only on memorizing moves, I teach students how to think during a game, how to recognize threats, calculate moves, create plans, and learn from mistakes.
A Typical Online Lesson
A typical 45–60 minute online lesson includes:
5–10 minutes: Warm-up puzzles and tactical exercises
10–15 minutes: Introduction and explanation of the lesson topic
15–20 minutes: Interactive practice using an online chessboard
10–15 minutes: Practice game or analysis of the student's game
5 minutes: Feedback, corrections, and recommended practice
Lessons can be adjusted depending on the student's level, progress, and goals.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
I believe chess should be challenging but enjoyable. I create a comfortable online learning environment where students can ask questions, make mistakes, and improve without feeling pressured.
