About Lakshmi
Growing up with 3 teachers in my immediate family, it has always been in my nature to pass on the gift of education to others. Having spent 2 years as a Musical Theatre teacher for 6-11 year olds, as well as tutoring GCSE and A Level students across a range of subjects, I have the experience required for effective teaching. I currently study Biomedical Science at the University of Edinburgh and have successfully completed my first year with top grades. The diligence and commitment required for such a content heavy and intense degree highlights further my suitability as a tutor.

I believe teaching requires a hands on approach. Education is not about simply learning and recalling information, rather about understanding what we learn and gaining necessary tools to apply that knowledge. I offer engaging and in depth sessions, to capture the students attention and steer them towards success in their subject. My passion for education is one of my greatest attributes, and I strive to reflect that passion in my lessons and replicate it in my students. Sessions I provide are tailored to the needs of the student, and begin with a short assessment of the current strengths and areas for improvement. Not only do I help the students learn and understand the information, I also teach them critical skills such as exam technique and time management - skills that are necessary for success in high pressure academic environments. Having finished my A Levels just over a year ago, I can clearly recollect the stress, nerves and sheer quantity of information students are expected to know for final exams. I have been in that same position recently enough to understand that in a class of 30 students it is sometimes difficult to have the attention required for optimal understanding of the information presented. The style of teaching I offer is geared towards the student, with a student-first approach to ensure that their needs are being met. As an undergraduate student, I am able to offer classes to children of all ages, as well as GCSE students, in: Spanish, French, Biology and Chemistry.
