About Xavier
I am an economics student at university looking to help anyone at GSCE level or below improve their maths. I have previously tutored maths to 3 children weekly throughout the second half of 2020 in the lead up to their GSCE exams. These students were eager to learn and with my help we saw significant improvements in their ability to both handle and interpret maths. I took GSCE and A level maths, and continue to use maths in my degree to this day so I feel very comfortable helping other students improve their skills in what is such an important subject

I have taught both in person and online. In both cases my format remains the same. (Note: Whilst Covid-19 is with us my classes will be online. This is done for the safety of everyone involved). I begin the classes with some moderate questions, based off the previous module's work. I do this to make sure my pupil have a good understanding of the previous module before we move on. The next section of the class involves me and the pupil discussing the topic we want to cover next. This way I understand the level that my pupil is working at. Knowing this I then set questions for the pupil. These questions will start easy get progressively harder. The pupil answering these questions and us discussing and going over them makes up the bulk of my session. I tend to end the class with a review of the days lesson; what we learned, what we can improve on etc.. If we have come to the end of the topic and both the pupil and I feel confident we can move forwards we will also dedicate some time at the end of the session to discuss the next topic we wish to move onto. Note: these classes were 90 minutes long.
