About Shafqat
I studied Economics at Fordham University, and have been tutoring professionally for 7 years. My focus has typically been in middle & high school math, although I have taught subjects ranging from second grade reading to college level microeconomics.
Outside of education, I have work experience in marketing and business development, and am a small business owner.

The foundation of my teaching method is differentiated learning, meaning I take the time to determine what would work best for each individual student.
A typical lesson starts with 5 minutes of "discovery" - time that allows me to gauge the student's needs. If someone has a lot of questions, for example, I take an inquiry-based approach and let them lead, guiding their questions in a way that takes them to a solution. Or, if a student seems lost or exasperated at the outset, I will start with a lecture-based approach and lay a groundwork for them.
From there, my goal is to ensure you understand the "why" behind the solutions we discuss. I aim to teach logic so that the student can replicate the approach themselves in the future.
My lessons are for middle & high school math (arithmetic, algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus, and calculus).
