About Raakhi
During my education, learning hasn’t always come easily to me, so although I have been able to achieve top grades, I completely understand the struggle it can take to get them. It’s this experience that makes me a little different as a tutor. I am well accustomed to breaking down information in ways that make it more digestible and thinking about concepts in unique, creative ways that allow for understanding as opposed to just memorisation. Hence, I approach every lesson differently, depending on the student in front of me and aim to target their specific needs, weaknesses, and learning styles. I tend to use methods such as concept mapping to ensure that students draw links across topics, allowing them to gain a fuller understanding, and problem-based learning, which roots the principles they are being taught in real-world situations, hence further encouraging them to understand the underlying principles rather than following memorised procedures.

My approach to lessons is extremely flexible with timings ranging from 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the age of the student and the aims for the lesson (for example, is it close to exam period). I onboard each new student with an introductory session where we will map out content aims and the support they require regarding exam technique, meaning most lessons result in a blend of exam practice and explanations of topic matter. I tend to lean on interactive whiteboards as they allow me to observe and help students refine their approaches to questions, and I will sometimes set work for students to do between sessions, allowing us to review their progress and identify gaps in their knowledge. The age of students I tutor ranges from 10 to 21, and regarding the frequency of classes, this is completely dependent on them and their progression, so this can be worked out on a running basis. In terms of my tutoring experience, I started tutoring during COVID-19, reading with primary school students to try and ensure their literacy wasn’t affected - since then, I have tutored from 11+ through to university admissions, with a particular focus on GCSE & A-Level Maths, Economics and Chemistry, as well as the TSA admissions test. I also have a lot of experience working with children, from being involved with the mentoring charity Manchester Young Minds to being a student ambassador for Young Enterprise, which involved active outreach and supporting high school children in determining the direction of their career journeys. Therefore, I am well equipped to tailor sessions and communicate clearly and engagingly across all ages. Qualifications: 11 Grade 9s at GCSE, including separate science, geography, Spanish, and Latin 4 A* at A-level in Mathematics, Economics, Chemistry, and EPQ University of Oxford: Graduated with First Class Honours in Economics and Management

Raakhi has been tutoring my daughter for the past three years seeing her through both GCSE economics and A-level economics. She has been brilliant and played a pivotal role in my daughter achieving two A*s.
