About Xiaoying Echo
Originally from China, I am a Mandarin educator with immersive classroom experience in New York City. I taught at The Kuei Luck Early Childhood Center in Long Island City, a Reggio Emilia–inspired Mandarin immersion preschool serving children from infancy to age five, and later worked as a Lead Teacher in the bilingual (Mandarin–English) environment.
I hold a Master of Fine Arts degree and bring both creativity and structure into my teaching. My background in storytelling and the arts allows me to design lessons that are engaging, expressive, and developmentally appropriate while still maintaining clear learning goals.
As a bilingual educator and cross-cultural advocate, I value helping children build not only language skills but also cultural understanding and confidence. I am currently furthering my studies in Early Childhood Education to continue deepening my professional practice.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy filmmaking, yoga, and creative writing — all of which influence the imaginative and supportive atmosphere I create for young learners.

I am an experienced Mandarin educator with over three years of teaching at The Kuei Luck Early Childhood Center (Long Island City Campus), a Reggio Emilia–inspired Mandarin immersion preschool serving children from 6 months to 5 years old. I also worked as a Lead Teacher in this immersive bilingual (Mandarin–English) setting.
My teaching approach is child-centered and developmentally informed. I design lessons based on each child’s language level, attention span, and personality. I specialize in tone accuracy, pronunciation clarity, and structured vocabulary building to help children build a strong Mandarin foundation.
In addition to structured learning, I incorporate storytelling as a core method. Using images and guided prompts, I encourage children to create open-ended stories with newly learned vocabulary. This strengthens speaking confidence, sentence structure, and expressive language skills in a natural and creative way.
With a Master of Fine Arts background and strong experience in arts and narrative development, I bring creativity into structured language learning. My goal is to support steady progress while making children feel confident, engaged, and empowered in their Mandarin journey.
