About Emily
With 8 years of experience teaching and performing the violin, I am committed to helping students achieve technical skill and a lifelong love of music. I teach school and college students at all levels, from beginners learning foundational techniques to advanced learners preparing for recitals, competitions, and exams.
One of the highlights of my career has been helping students transform from hesitant beginners into confident performers capable of expressing themselves through music. My teaching emphasises technical fundamentals such as posture, bowing technique, finger placement, rhythm, tone, and intonation, while also encouraging musical creativity, interpretation, and expression.
I include music theory, sight-reading, and listening exercises to build a well-rounded understanding of music. I tailor lessons to each student’s pace, goals, and learning style, creating a supportive, patient, and motivating environment. Teaching violin allows me to inspire students, build confidence, and foster a lifelong passion for music.

I teach violin with a methodology grounded in motivation, communication, creativity, and integrity, designed to help students develop into skilled, expressive, and confident musicians. Lessons are structured yet flexible, combining technical exercises, creative exploration, and performance preparation.
Motivation is central. I guide students to set clear goals, monitor their progress, and celebrate accomplishments to cultivate perseverance, engagement, and confidence. Communication ensures lessons are interactive and collaborative, providing students with the space to ask questions, share challenges, and explore musical ideas.
Creativity is emphasised through improvisation, composition, and interpretation exercises, helping students develop a personal artistic voice and emotional connection to music. Integrity encourages disciplined, responsible practice and respect for the craft, fostering habits that ensure long-term success.
Alongside violin, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, rhythm exercises, and introductory piano, equipping students with a holistic foundation in music. My methodology nurtures technical skill, artistic expression, and a lifelong love of music.
